目的论视角下看章回标题翻译策略的选择——以《红楼梦》两英译本为例

The Employing of Different Translating Strategies in Chapter Title Translating from the View of Skopostheory——A case study of two English versions of Hong Lou Meng

从目的论出发,对比杨宪益夫妇与霍克斯的英译《红楼梦》版本,从章回标题的翻译中,探寻两个英译本在翻译策略选择上的不同,从而揭示目的论在翻译策略选择上的指导作用及其广泛应用,也为英译本的比较与评判提供新的视角和标准。

In this essay, the translations of chapter titles have been selected from the two English versions, A Dream of Red Mansions by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang and The Story of the Stone by David Hawkins, and compared to see the differences of the two versions in their strategy in translating this book. This comparison is based on Skopostheory to unveil the guiding role of purposes in deciding which translating shed interesting lights on critical reviews of Chinese-to-Eng
