On the Relationship between Wu Mi and the American Literature

吴宓的人生观、文学观和文学创作都与美国文学有密切的关联,由于美国文学的引入,吴宓超越了本民族文学的视界,得以在多元文化语境中审视人生和文学问题,得出的结论更具普遍性;在创作方面,美国文学也给吴宓提供了题材和灵感,成为吴宓创作的源泉之一。然而,在吴宓与美国文学的关联中,吴宓采取的是"六经注我"的方式,这不符合当代学界所提倡的具有主体间性的对话精神。

Wumi＇ s outlook on life, literary view and creation are closely associated with the American hterature. Because oI the introduction of the American literature, Wu Mi was able to surpass the visual field of his native literature and survey the issues of life and literature in the pluralistic context of culture, and come to the conclusion more general. In his literary creation, the A- merican literature becomes source of creation for Wu Mi by providing him with subjects and inspirations. However, Wu Mi adopt- ed the mode of ＂having six classics as annotations＂ when he referred to the American literature, which is not in accord with the spirit of intemubjective dialogue advocated by modern academic circles.
