On the Influence of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom on the 1911 Revolution

160年前,洪秀全在桂平金田发动了声势浩大的太平天国起义,虽然在中外反动势力的联合镇压下悲壮地失败了,但是,太平天国沉重地打击了清王朝的腐朽统治,在中国近代史上谱写了反帝反封的辉煌篇章,它极大地启发和鼓舞了以孙中山为首的资产阶级民主革命派的"革命排满",并为他们领导和发动武昌起义铺平了道路,而特别是太平天国留下的宝贵经验和惨痛教训,成为了资产阶级民主革命派以"三民主义"为核心内容的思想策略的重要来源。太平天国对辛亥革命产生了重要的作用和影响。

160 years ago, Hong Xiuquan started the tremendous ＂Ihiping Heavenly Kingdom Uprising. Although quelled by domestic and international reactionary forces, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom gave a powerful blow to the corrupt Qing government. This uprising constituted a glorious chapter in fighting against capitalism and feudalism in modern Chinese history, enlightened and encouraged anti-Manchuism efforts of the bour geois-democratic revolutionary party led by Sun Yat-sen, and paved the way for the later Wuchang Uprising. In particular, the precious experiences and lessons derived from the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom became important sources of the democratic strategies with the Three People＇s Principles （Nationalism, Democracy, the People＇s Livelihood） as the core and exerted important influence on the 1911 Revolution.
