There are two kinds of 4 - Q AC - DC sources of AC - DC - AC converters： thyristor rectifier/ regenerative sources and AFE. They have their own features and problems, but both of them are not satisfied. A kind of new sources, IGBT rectifier/regenerative source, which price and performances are occupied be- tween them and is introduced in this paper to offer a new option to customers. The new one has many features and will make it get a seat in market, specially in medium voltage converter, common DC bus and 4 - Q H bridge converter fields.
