On Cognition and Lexicalization

有关词汇研究的文章已有很多。本文从认知的角度来研究词汇的相关问题。研究结果表明,词汇化是认知的必然结果。具体地讲,词汇化是认知的相似原则、经济原则和抽象原则相互竞争的结果;词汇按滚雪球的方式发展,其产生和发展源于基本认知域、基本经验和认知心理。

There is a lot of discussion on lexicalization already. This article expounds it on a cognitive basis. Lexicalization results from cognition like a rolling ice ball. Daily interaction produces words. Basic cognitive domain, basic experience and cognitive psy- chology help the process of lexicalization. Iconicity, economy and abstract principle are three key factors, the competitive interac- tion among which determines the process of lexicalization.
