Toni Morrison subverts the sex of God and transforms the myth of God' s creating Adam and Eve in Sula boldly and com- pletely. She endows women with creativity and subjectivity which have been deprived by Christian patriarchal myth of women by portraying a brand new image of "Eve" who is creative, wise and dignified, and satirically criticizes penis-worship in western pa- triarchal society. So the Christian traditional view and western traditional view of women are overturned through the transformation of the two archetypal characters-Adam and Eve, and the author' s radical feminist thought is conveyed through the image of rebel- lious Sula especially.
