从文化差异谈颜色词翻译中的“变色”

Color Changes in Translation of Color Terms from Perspective of Culture Difference

语言同文化呈相互依存的关系,语言不能离开文化而存在。英语和汉语因属于两个截然不同的语系,植根于两种不同的文化体系,折射出英汉民族不同的文化心理和审美情趣,中西方给颜色词所赋予的文化内涵也是不尽相同的。因此,在不同的文化背景、社会习俗、民族风情、宗教信仰等因素的影响下,英汉民族对同一颜色的理解也有很大差别。了解并掌握这些颜色词汇的差异,对克服中西文化冲突、推动中西文化交流有着一定的实际意义。本文从造成中西文化差异的原因入手,分析文化差异对颜色词翻译的影响,了解颜色词翻译中的"变色"现象,即变为"无色"、"它色"和"它意",并通过列举大量例子更生动形象的说明翻译中的"变色"。

Language and culture interact with each other,and language cannot shut out of culture.English and Chinese belong to two distinct families of languages,which root in different cultural systems and reflect two different cultural psychology and aesthetic appreciation.Therefore,color words have rich cultural connotations in the development of English and Chinese.And because of the influences of the different cultural backgrounds,social customs and religious faith,English and Chinese people have different understandings even for the same color.It is important to learn and understand the differences which are conducive to overcoming cultural barriers and promoting the cross-cultural communication.This paper discusses the reasons of cultural differences between Chinese and English,then analyses how cultural differences impact on translation of color terms.Furthermore,it shows us why one kind of color turns to another and it also quotes many kinds of examples to make it more interesting and help us to understand it.
