Lacquer carving, which is a traditional Chinese craft, is representative of crafts in Beijing. Lacquer - with cloisonne, jade carving, ivory carving, inlaid-gold lacquer, filigree inlaying, imperial carpets and Beijing embroideries -is one of the top eight crafts in Beijing. In 2006, lacquer carving was recognized as part of China＇s national intangible cultural heritage. Yin Xiuyun is one of the craft＇s inheritors. Yin worries the craft - adored by the imperial family in ancient China - will one day go the way of the dodo.
”雕漆”是中国传统手工技艺中的瑰宝，也是京城工艺美术的代表，它与景泰蓝、玉雕、牙雕、金漆镶嵌、花丝镶嵌、宫毯、枣琴二起并称为“燕京八绝”。据该项目国家级非物质文化遗产代表性传承人殷秀云介绍，在中国古代，雕漆作为皇家宫廷器物曾有着极为辉煌的历史，如今，这门高超的技艺却面临着失传的境地。
