Pailou, or paifang, is a traditional architectural style of Chinese gate, such as an arch. In ancient times, most pailou were built with wood, stones or bricks. Pailou were used as gates for China＇s halls during several World Expos, including those in Montreal, Canada, in 1867, Philadelphia, the US, in 1876, and Paris, France, in 1900.
牌楼是一种有柱门形构筑物。旧时牌楼主要有木、石、木石、砖木、琉璃几种。牌楼曾作为多届世博会中国馆的门面建筑。
