The Power of Viewing: The Monitoring Theory in Foucault′s Concept of the Power

Foucault analyzes the vision issue in the ancient time,and realizes that the vision can produce power,which as a result forms the imbalance between the watcher and the watched.Using the classical prison panopticism as a metaphor,he advocates that people have been monitored under this ubiquitous vision machine.The vision machine has its support society and cultural capital and distributes its power in order to ensure the authority,intimidation of sight of the watcher as well as the power to interpretation.
