The development of agroforestry will put the emphasis on making nitrogen fixing species as the tree component of agroforestry system. This paper reviewed the development process of agroforestry based on nitrogen fixing tree,and the main agroforestry models existed which including alley interplanting,improvement fallow in shifting cultivation and shading for cash crops. The main nitrogen fixing trees in agroforestry system were introduced.
