摘要
德国学者李希霍芬(Ferdinand von Richthofen,1833～1905)曾于1860年、1868～1872年两度到中国作过地质与地理的调查。李氏精心设计了7条调查路线,实地收集了大量资料。在他的巨著《中国》一书中,充分反映出他对中国地质科学的多个领域做了不少开创性的工作。中外学者对此曾作过恰如其分的评价,如中国地质事业创始人之一翁文灏认为“中国的地质学是建筑在由李希霍芬奠定的坚实基础之上的。”
German scholar Ferdinand von Richthofen(1833—1905)arrived in China twice for making the geological and geographical survey in 1860 and 1868—1872.He designed elaboratively 7 survey lines and collected a great number of materials on the spots.In his gigantic writings,“ China.Ergebnisse eigener Reisen und darauf gegrundeter studien”,it fully reflected that he did a great many initiate works in the field of geoscience in China.In this respect Chinese and foreign scholars drew an appropriate appraisal.For example Weng Wenhao(1889—1971), one of the initiators in Chinese geological undertaking,considered“Ge- ology of China is being built upon the solid foundation laid down by Ferdinand von Richthofen”.
