The so-called moral paralysis refers to the mentality of Dubliners who are stuck in the repressing Dublin and feeling numb,depressed,helpless and empty.This state of mind is spreading to every aspect of the social life in Dublin and has become sort of a collective illness,hard to get by.This article tries to analyze the reflection of the theme of moral paralysis in the depiction of religious life in the Dubliners by studying the characterization,plots and properties in several stories of the book.It is to gain a further understanding of the artistic features of James Joyce and his works.
