Aim To study the main pharmacological effects of L. macranthoides Hand. -Mazz and Lonicera japonica Thunb. Methods Through observing the antibacterial activities on 6 kinds of bacteria in vitro, the antibacterial activities of the two kinds of medicinal materials were compared. The anti-inflammatory effects of them were compared by modeling increase of blood capillary permeability with mice, swelling of foot and granuloma on tampon with rats;the immunological regulation was detected by weighing the immune organs of low-immunity mice induced by injecting CTX,and the phagocytosis function of phagocytic cells in mice was researched. Results The antibacterial activities of L. macranthoides Hand. -Mazz and Lonicera japonica Thunb were different on those 6 kinds of bacteria.MIC:7.8~62.8 g·L-1 and 15.7~125 g·L-1,MBC: ≥250 g·L-1 and ≥500 g·L-1.They could obviously reduce the blood capillary permeability increase of mice, the foot swelling degree of rats and the hyperplasia of granuloma of rats.In addition, with the administration of them, the organ index, the clearance index K and the phagocytosis index α were increased. However, the effects of them showed no significant difference. Conclusions Both(L. -macranthoides Hand. -Mazz) and Lonicera japonica Thunb have antibacterial,anti-inflammatory and non-specific immunity functions. And these functions of them are almost equal.
