Furthermore, the pricing structure for gas is increasingly influenced by international gas prices. Therefore, Shanghai has several important advantages in expanding gas consumption. The heaviest use of gas in Shanghai is to be found in the power generation, residential, and petrochemical sectors. But to guarantee these markets, several problems must be addressed: 1) establishing a reasonable gas pricing mechanism; 2) establishing market operations based on the enterprise system; 3) and establishing a multi-source gas supply system.
