With the cultural and economic development of society and the change of disease spectrum, patients needs for psychological services have become increasingly great. For this reason, our hospital formed in 1990 the department of psychology instead of just providing psychological consultations and has achieved remarkable success. What follows are some of the measures taken by our hospital: ①close attention by leaders; ②introduction and cultivation of professional talents; ③adoption of the path of substantial development; ④stress on the characteristics of the specialty; ⑤open denomination of the department; ⑥reinforcement of contacts with other departments in the hospital; and ⑦structural readjustment of expenses.
