Software evaluation of household appliance is a necessary part of the safety certification; this paper analyzes the background, objective, methods and procedure of software evaluation of household appliance, and explains the important role of software evaluation on guaranteeing product safety, improving product reliability, promoting the optimization of product structure. At the same time, the paper also interprets the OD-2045 document published by the IECEE to contribute a better understanding of the software evaluation methods and requirements during the international mutual recognition.
