On Descartes' Natural Light

在笛卡尔看来,自然之光是上帝赋予人的一种正确地做判断和辨别真假的理性认识能力,是人最基本的思维活动。自然之光照亮了我们的认识过程,向我们显示了真实的对象,但是它本身不可怀疑。自然之光是自明的,任何对自然之光的怀疑都预先假设了它的有效性。

Natural light,endowed by God,is the capacity to make fight judgment and to distinguish the truth from the false reasonably. It is the fundamental human thinking activity. Natural light illuminates the process of cognition,presenting the true object. But natural light is in itself undoubted.It is self-evident, and any doubt of natural light has presupposed its validity.
