Relation Between Pole Assignment and Linear Optimal Regulator Techniques

The connection is demonstrated between the pole assignment technique and the linear optimal regulator technique. That is, there exist common Lyapunov functions between two closed loop systems synthesized by each method. And from this property is derived a useful theorem for pole assignment.
