《蓼园词选》是广西文学史上现存的第一部具有较大影响的词学著作,它取材于《草堂诗余》,对《草堂诗余》的内容又有所增删。在选词上多选治世之音,不选或少选亡国之音;选忧时、有寄托之作,不选或少选内容浅薄之作;选含蓄蕴藉之作,不选或少选直白坦率之作。评词则以"寄托"为核心,深入挖掘作品细微的艺术特征,因而使《蓼园词选》成为一个比较成功的选本。但《蓼园词选》也存在着漏选优秀之作,阑入平庸之作以及滥用比兴寄托等问题。

＂Liaoyuan＇s Ci Selection＂is a literary history of Guangxi existing first has a greater impact on the Ci works.It comes from＂Cao Tang Shi Yu＂,but increases some additions and deletions on its content.It chose more works of peaceful times,not or fewer works of troubled times.More works of worrying about times and having sustenance,not or fewer frank works.Its commentaries depend on＂Sustenance＂.in-depth excavation works of fine art characteristics,so that the＂Liaoyuan＇s Ci Selection ＂become one of the more sucessful anthology.But it also exist missing masterpiece,selecting mediocre works.
