林文庆与孙中山及辛亥革命

Lin Wen-qing and Sun Yat-sen as well as the 1911 Revolution

出生于新加坡的杰出海外华人林文庆博士曾为中国的教育和革命事业作出了很大贡献,但由于各种原因,他几乎已经被中国历史所遗忘。虽然林文庆一向提倡和注重教育救国,并不认为革命是当时中国的首选,但由于他与孙中山之间深厚的个人情谊,使他在不自觉之中亦逐渐参与到了革命活动中。在很多时候,与其说林文庆是在参与辛亥革命,倒毋宁说他是在帮孙中山的忙。

Dr Lim Boon Keng,born in Singapore,was an outstanding overseas Chinese.Dr Lim once made great contributions to the revolution and education of China.However,Dr Lim was almost forgotten by Chinese history because of various reasons.Dr Lim would like to save the nation through education and never thought of the revolution was the first choice for China at that time,however,gradually and unconsciously,Dr Lim involved into revolution activities because of the deep friendship between him and Sun Yat-Sen.So,in many cases,if it said that Dr Lim was involved in the Revolution of 1911,as a matter of fact,we would rather say Dr Lim was helping Sun Yat-Sen.
