《毛泽东选集》英译中的策略变化

The Change of Strategies in the Translation of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung

《毛泽东选集》的英译延续了数十年的时间,期间翻译环境的变化导致了翻译策略的改变。本文从译本语言对比入手,对此作了历时和共时的考察。研究发现,《毛泽东选集》英译策略呈现出由"松"到"紧"、由"意译"为主到"直译"为主、由"译语"取向到"源语"取向的历时变化过程。从共时的角度看,正文和注释的翻译也存在类似的差异。

The translation of Selected Works ofMao Tse-tung lasted for decades in the last century when the environment for the work witnessed drastic changes, as a result of which the strategies adopted in the process have also undergone much modification. Based an textual analysis, this paper attempts to conduct a research into the alteration of strategies in translating the work, both synchronically and diachronically. The study shows that the translation strategies of Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung have changed over the years from ＂liberal＂ to ＂literal＂, and from ＂target language oriented＂ to ＂source language oriented＂. The same difference has also been found in the translation of the different parts（ main bodies and notes）of the work.
