突厥作为一支古老的游牧民族,公元6至8世纪活跃于亚洲北部的草原地区。它曾经建立了一个强大的奴隶制游牧汗国,也曾创造了灿烂的草原文明。它的活动见于中国、波斯、阿拉伯和西方的文献记载,近百年来中外对其研究取得了显著成果。然而关于突厥官号这一问题,至今尚未得到很好的解决。因而,进一步发掘有关突厥官号的史料,对这一问题做全面系统的研究,对深入了解汗国内部的政治制度具有重大的意义。
