Objective To discuss the value and feasibility of modified early warning score (MEWS) system in paroxysmal cerebral hemorrhage in emergency department. Methods Sixty pa- tients with paroxysmal cerebral hemorrhage received MEWS system scoring before treatment. 32 patients with scores ≥5 points were assigned to observation group, while 28 patients with scores 〈 5 were assigned to control group. Both groups received comprehensive treatment, and the cerebral hemorrhage quantity, MEWS scoring, recovery condition of nerve function and complications of two groups were observed. Results The cerebral hemorrhage quantity in the observation group was ob- viously smaller than that in the control group (P〈 0.01 ). The overall response rate in the observa- tion group was obviously higher than that in the control group (P 〈 0.01 ). The incidence of com- plications and length of stay in the observation group were obviously lower than that in that control group (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). The mortality in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, but it was not statistically significant. Conclusion MEWS system is simple with strong operability in the treatment of paroxysmal cerebral hemorrhage in emergency department. It can reduce patients' prognosis risk and be used as an effective method of pre - hospital emergency care. Thus it has great clinical application value.
