西南联大作为现代中国20世纪三四十年代由清华、北大、南开三校临时合并创办的联合大学,其存在时间与抗日救亡运动相始终。尽管西南联大的建立具有一定的战时突发性和偶然性,但在现代中国高等学府史上,西南联大无疑是较早具有真正现代大学意义的学府,以大师级学者为导向建立大学之灵魂,以自由意志和独立精神作为大学的精神标杆。西南联大的成功教育范例对当代高等教育的发展具有积极的指引意义。

In the 30s and 40s of the last century, the United U- niversity of Southwest came into being, coexisting as long as the War of resistance against Japan. Although the united uni- versity of southwest established temporally, it was a modern- ized institution. The United University of Southwest played an important part of revelation in educational history. Many pro- found professors enhanced the quality of the school. The man- ager preached their gospel of self-reliance liberty and indepen- dence.
