Sketches and freehand figure are both important contents of Chinese painting.Although differently defined and expressed,they are inextricably linked and sharing common aesthetic properties.This paper expounds their interrelation from such aspects as definition,painting methods,emotional expression and transmission,and their integration and interconnection of the two ways of paintings.It also discusses the methodology for learning freehand figure.
