The maturation of oocyte is the necessary stage of human gamete development to embryo. It's well known that the oocyte maturation is regulated by various factors. M-phase promoting factor (MPF) is the most important regulator of oocyte maturation. Cyclin dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) and cyclin B are the two subunits of MPF. MFP regulates oocyte maturation though CDKI phosphorylation and cyclin B synthesis. Mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)/Mos and cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP) are another key factors that control oocyte maturation by influencing MPF activity. The MPF, MAPK/Mos and cAMP influence and interact each other, compositing a complicated regulatory networks. To elucidate the exact molecular mechanism of oocyte maturation is favorable for treating female infertility and provides the theory basis for in vitro maturation of oocyte.
