Samples of natural Fel Ursi collected by two different methods (natural and by drainage) and two faked imitations were compared by powder X ray diffraction method. The differences among these samples, the standard X ray diffraction Fourier pattern and characteristic diffraction peaks of the two genuine galls were obtained. The result showed that this method can be used for distinguishing Chinese medicinal materia from animals.
