摘要
乔治·梅若底斯是一位长期被忽视的维多利亚时期的重要作家。尽管他有诗人、哲学家的气质,却因其艰涩难懂的文字而难以受当时读者欢迎。19世纪末以来,随着文学价值标准逆转后,国外学界逐渐肯定其文学地位,并开始深入探究他的创作特色。迄今为止,学界对梅若底斯的相关研究多为作品中的自传成分及作品的叙事技巧展开,本论文旨在对百年来梅若底斯的研究概况进行粗略的梳理,以全新的视角,强调从梅若底斯与维多利亚时期的新杂志Once A Week的关联,并以Once A Week为轴心,对当代梅若底斯研究新的取向予以展望。
George Meredith was a writer so neglected and so under-valued during Victorian period.Although He had the temperament of poem and philosopher,he never belonged to the main stream of his own time,considered "unreadable".So far,the studies on Meredith concentrate on his peculiar style of autobiography and narration.This paper attempt to sketch the outline of the research on Meredith since the late-nineteenth century,throw light on his relationship to new magazine Once A Week.Based on Once A Week,this paper will provide a new research perspective.
