《说文解字》所引“通人”说新证

New Attestation on Tongren Cited in Shuowenjiezi(Origins of Chinese Characters)

许慎《说文解字》所称引的汉代"通人"说中,不少古文经学者的说法体现了古文字结构特点和使用规律,有的可在甲骨文、金文或战国文字中找到具体例证。很多古文字知识和理论在隶书通行的汉代仍然为古文经学者所通晓并加以传授,充分说明了师承相传在中国传统学术中的重要作用。

The theory about tongren cited in Shuowenjizi（Origins of Chinese Characters） by Xu Sheng has aroused various interpretations by numerous philologists of ancient Chinese and the latter reflects the structural characters and laws of use of ancient Chinese characters,some of which can be evidenced in Oracle,Jin characters and the characters in Warring States Period.In Han Dynasty,though Lishu has gained much popularity,the knowledge and theories about ancient Chinese characters are still known to the philologists of ancient Chinese and spread by them,which is a case in point about the important role of teacher-student inheritance model in the traditional Chinese academic studies.
