Analysis of the English Translation of SNOW IN MIDSUMMER From the Angle of Adaptation and Selection

在翻译适应选择论看来,翻译实质是"译者适应翻译生态环境的选择活动",翻译原则是"三维转换",即语言、文化、交际。《窦娥冤》是元代散曲杂剧其中一个作品。目前,学界对其研究集中在主人公的悲剧色彩、审美价值及中国古代妇女贞节观等方面。文章试图从翻译适应选择论新视角中来分析《窦娥冤》英译文化维的适应性选择转换,探讨中英文化的差异。

In view of translating adaptation and selection, the essence of translation is ＂translators＇ activities of＂ adaptation to the translating eeo-environment＂. The principle is ＂transition of three perspectives＂. They are per spectives of language, culture and communication. SNOW IN MIDSUMMER is one of Yuan dramas. So far, the studies focus on the aspects of the protagonist＇s tragedy, aesthetic value and ancient Chinese women＇s virginity and so on. This article tries to analyze cultural transition in the English version of SNOW IN MIDSUMMER at the angle of translation adaptation and selection, aiming at discussing the distinctions between Chinese and Western cultures.
