On the Narration of Heroes in Historical Records

"英雄"崇拜和"英雄主义"是中国古代文学千百年来永恒的主题之一。作为"二十四史"之首的《史记》,记述了创业帝王、武官猛将、文臣参谋、侠义刺客、仁义游侠等五类英雄,各类英雄记述又表现出了不同的叙事特征。这些英雄叙事给人以悲壮美、雄壮美、崇高美等审美感受。

＂Hero worship＂ and ＂Heroism＂ is one of the eternal themes in ancient Chinese literature for thousands of years. As the leader of ＂Twenty - Four Histories＂, Historical Records chronicles five kinds of heroes such as the pioneering emperors, civil servants and consultants, military generals, chivalrous assassins and benevolent vagrant people. The narration of these different kinds of heroes demonstrates different narrative features. The narration of these heroes gives readers such aesthetic feelings as tragi- cally moving beauty, magnificent beauty, and sublime beauty.
