The ethyl cinnamate is synthesised by the estendcation of cinnamic acid and ethyl alcohol in presence of ammaniam feric sulfate dodecahydrate. Thus a mixture of 0.02 mol cinnanic acid,0.20 mol ethyl alcohol and 0.01 mol catalyst are heated for 7 .0 h at renfluxing temperature, and the yield of ester is 94. 3 %.
