新世纪经济的特点是经济的知识化和信息化。在全球经济一体化的推动下 ,尽管我国尚处于工业化的初级阶段 ,但无可回避知识经济的挑战。从而也决定了我国的工业化道路将具有新的特征 :工业化与信息化同步走。 2 1世纪北京首都城市功能的定位应根据北京在新世纪经济资源中的占有地位进行新的调整。与全国相比 ,北京占有最大的知识、信息资源。北京应该也完全可能成为全国的高科技头脑城市和经济中心。北京城市功能的新定位有利于促进北京首都经济发展和产业结构的调整。

The economy in the new century will be characterized by the knowledge and information. China's economy is undoubtedly challenged by the globable economy though it is still at the primary stage.Therefore the development of economy and the industrialization in China have their own new characters:That is ,information technology and industrialization will be carried out at the same time.The function of Beijing,the capital of China,will be adjusted according to its economy position.Compared with other cities in China,Beijing has the richest resources of knowlege and information.So Beijing will be and is going to be the center of economy and high technology in China.The newly adjusted position of the urban function of Beijing will benefit the economy development and its changes of industry structure.
