在宋代,宋日两国虽然没有正式的官方外交关系,双方的商贸往来和文化交流却从未间断,充当沟通两国交流的媒介主要是商人和僧侣。日本的不少物品如工艺品、典籍书画、佛教用品、食品药材等物品经过种种途径流入中国,反映了当时宋日之间文化交流的情况。

The Song Dynasty was the golden age for the development of Song-Japan relationship. The economic and cultural exchange was frequent during that time. The Japanese articles were introduced to China in the Song Dynasty. These articles included the arts and crafts and the local specialties made in Japan. These articles were very liked by the Chinese.
