汉语公示语的模糊性及其目的论视角下的英译研究

Fuzziness of Chinese Public Signs and Its English Translation from the Perspective of Skopostheorie

汉语公示语的模糊性主要体现在词义模糊、修辞模糊和文化模糊三个层面。弗米尔的目的论突出了目的语读者的地位以及整体翻译行为的目的。在目的论指导下,依据"让目的语读者明晰公示语交际目的"的原则,针对不同层面的汉语公示语的模糊性,可以采用保留模糊、增补信息变模糊为清晰、改译、略译及零翻译等翻译策略。通过问卷调查,这些翻译策略的可行性得到了证实,同时也验证了目的论对公示语翻译实践的指导作用。

The fuzziness of Chinese public signs is embodied in terms of its word meaning,rhetoric and concerned culture.Skopostheorie proposed by Vermeer highlights the role of target language readers and the purpose of translating action.Under the guidance of Skopostheorie,the translation principle is put forward that translation should help target language readers understand the communication purpose of signs,and such translation strategies,as maintaining fuzziness,clarifying fuzziness by adding information,rewriting,omitting or zero translation,are suggested for the translation of different aspect of fuzziness of Chinese public signs.A questionnaire survey finally justifies the feasibility of those strategies and meanwhile demonstrates the significance of Skopostheorie in guiding the translation of public signs.
