摘要 美国公众科学素养研究起始于1950年代。1979年,美国国家科学基金会(NationalScienceFoundation,NSF)开始在全国范围进行长期稳定的调查,调查结果、数据与讨论汇总形成双年度报告《科学与工程学指标》(Science&EngineeringIndicators), This article explores the values and importance of the study of scientific literacy and the contents, variables and measurement designed by Jon D. Miller. The author tries to explain the sharp sliding in the curve of scientific literacy of the scientific literacy of the Chinese adults by ages and possibility of the cohort study of Chinese students in China though he failed in the first attempt of the survey in early 1990s because of shortage of funding and the necessity of international cooperation.
