巡视制度在中国有着悠久的历史,汉代建立了完善的巡视制度,专设司隶校尉一职,对京畿七郡和京师百官进行巡视监察,同时还具有荐举人才、推行教化、劝课农桑等职能,维护了汉代中央集权专制统治,加强了中央对地方的控制,在一定程度上澄清了吏治,保证了汉代行政管理工作的正常运转,提高了行政管理的质量和效率。
