Walter Benjamin's view of translation based on 'pure language',advanced in his illustrious essay 'the Task of the Translator',has attracted increasingly great attention of the current academic circle. The present article aims at construing Benjamin's illuminating concept of 'pure language' so as to elaborate on its profound truth, critical edge and liberating potentiality from the three original angles of the general postmodern thought of difference, and the metaphysical-theological and historical-materialistic dimensions in Benjamin's thinking, consequently redefining translation as a sublime redemption of the fallen human language, truth, history, tradition, culture and even human beings.
