This paper analyses the concept and features of radical innovation from the market and technology layers. It summarizes information analysis indicators and methods which could be used in radical innovation identification because of the S＆T output is an important representation of innovation. The theory and methods of complex system could also he used in radical innovation identification for the complexity of innovation system and the authors also discuss the NK model and catastrophe theory which can be used in radical innovation identification. This paper lastly summarizes the weakness and outXook of the direction.
