后殖民理论视角下的《大地》

An American Writer’s Chinese Complex——The Good Earth from the Perspective of Postcolonial Theory

摘要 赛珍珠是迄今唯一一位以中国题材小说——《大地》而获诺贝尔文学奖的外国作家,是中西交流的桥梁和纽带。此外,她在"西学东渐"的时代背景之下反其道而行,向西方人介绍中国文化与文学。基于她的策略,从后殖民地理论出发,本文旨在尝试展示赛珍珠作为一个作家的真实形象,提供一个更为公正合理的综合性评价。本文首先介绍研究背景以及文章理论框架,继而从宗教观、独特视觉和序曲中的"曲中曲"三方面做出研究,发现赛珍珠的宗教立场与儒家思想观念不谋而合,即"和而不同",同时为了在某种程度上迎合西方人的心态:西方统治东方,东方被西方殖民化与女性化了,赛珍珠运用了双焦点的跨文化视角。序曲的独特运用给作品提供了一把衡量优劣的标尺和媒介。 The Good Earth by Peal S.Buck was awarded with The Nobel Prize for literature,featuring Chinese subjects.She was the cultural bridge between East and West.Opposite to"the introduction of Western learning",she introduced Chinese culture and literature to the West.Based upon her tactics and postcolonial theory,this paper aims to show her real image as a writer and offering a more fair,balanced rational and comprehensive evaluation.It first introduces the study background and the theoretical framework.It then elaborates on three aspects: religious viewpoint,unique perspective and "tune within the tune"for the prelude.It discovers that Peal’s religious position and Confucian ideas happened to coincide with each other,namely,"Agreeing to Disagree".Meanwhile,she catered to the western mentality which believed that West ruled East.As a resuit the East was feminized and colonized and she adopted bi-focus and cross-cultural perspective.The unique employment of"tune within the tune"for the prelude offered a parameter and medium to assess the quality of the work.
