摘要
在阿多尔诺看来,文化工业是机械复制时代的产物,并通过生产和操纵公众的虚假需求来迎合机械复制时代的要求。结果是文化产品真实个性的丧失和个体文化创作以及欣赏能力的退化。在标准化和伪个人化大行其道之时,文化的社会批判功能被边缘化,文化因而成为对社会现状的肯定的仪式,带来的是对现状的默许和个体内心的分裂。
In Adorno’s view,the culture industry is the product of a mechanical age and caters to the needs of such an age of manufacturing and manipulating the public’s artificial needs.The result is the dissolution of authentic personalities by cultural products and the regression of individual capabilities for artistic creation and appreciation.Amid the prevailing standardization and pseudo-individualization,culture as a means of social critique is replaced by culture as a rite of assent resulting in acquiescence to the status quo and fragmentation of personality.
