In the speech at the commencement ceremony of the university of illinois school of publis health in chicago,donna shalara,secretary of health and human services put forward ten principles for building a 21st-century public heath system.Some of the principles are:public health must join the communication revolution;focus on prevention;make sure that research thrives;eliminate the shame of health disparities;train tomorrow's workforce today;bioethics must be as sophisticated as our science,etc.Some of these principles may shed a lot of light upon the building of our health system and our medical educational system for the new century.
