Selection of Saussure’s 2nd Course in General Linguistic

索绪尔普通语言学课程的第二次讲授始自1908年11月5日(周四),终于1909年6月24日(周四),共有十一位学生听讲。主要内容为概说(集中涉及符号学问题**),语言学内容的内部划分,共时性规律和历时性规律的区分,印欧语言学概要(作为普通语言学的附论添入)。在此选刊的,就是其主体部分,涉及语言的内部和外部研究,价值、同一性、单位问题,共时态包括横组合段理论和联想理论等问题。文本由日本学习院大学索绪尔文献研究专家小松英辅整理,取两种学生听讲笔记,一是Albfrt Rifdlingfr的,他与Emilf Constbntin相互传抄,较为详尽;一是Chbrlfs Pbtois的,较为简洁,各有其价值。

The second lecture of Saussure’s course in general linguistics to 11 students commenced on Thursday, 5th November, 1908 until Thursday, 24th June, 1909. Its main content includes introduction (oriented on semiotic issues), internal division of linguistics, division of synchronic rule and diachronic rule, brief introduction to Indo-European linguistics (as an attachment to general linguistics). This paper selects its main part concerning the internal and external study, value, identity and unit of language. Synchronism includes theory of horizontal combination and theory of imagery. The course script was organized from two students’ lecture note-takings by Komatsu, the expert of the study of Saussure’s literature in Gakushuin University of Japan. One lecture note was taken by Albert Riedlinger shared with Emile Constantin, which was more complete; the other was by Charles Patois, which was more concise. Each of the two notes has its own value.
