摘要
根据认知语义学的隐喻理论,语言中词义的延伸主要通过隐喻等认知思维方式实现。运用隐喻理论进行大学英语词汇及阅读理解教学,可降低记忆词汇的繁重度,提升学生阅读理解能力,让学生了解中国与英语国家在语言文化上的共性及差异性,培养学生的跨文化思维意识。
As noted by the theory of metaphor in the field of cognitive semantics, extension of word mean- ings in language use is mainly achieved by the mechanism of metaphor. This theory can be applied in the teach- ing of college English, particularly in the teaching of vocabulary and reading comprehension, to help lighten stu- dents' burden of memorizing English words and enhance their ability to comprehend English texts. In the mean- time, it serves to familiarize students with both the linguistic and cultural similarities and discrepancies between China and English speaking countries, and to nurture students' awareness of comparative thinking.
