On the Essential Attributes and Functions of Academic Journals

学报是高等学校主办的、以反映主办学校的学术成果为主的、综合性学术理论刊物。学校性、学术性和综合性是其基本的属性。与这一属性相适应,它的基本功能就是通过反映主办学校的学术成果,参与社会的学术交流,推动学校的教学科研工作和人才的培养,进而推动我国学术事业的繁荣和发展,促进社会主义物质文明、精神文明和政治文明的建设,传承人类社会文明。

An academic journal, published by higher education institutions, is a comprehensive publica-tion of academic theories, mainly reflecting the institutions’ academic achievements. The nature of school,technicality and comprehensiveness are its essential attributes. Adapting to the attributes, its basic functions areto promote the prosperity and development of China’s academic cause, advance the construction of socialistmaterial, spiritual and political civilization, and inherit the civilization of human society through reflecting theinstitutions’ academic achievements, participating in social academic exchanges and promoting the institutions’teaching and scientific research and talents cultivation.
