Politeness has always been a core area of studies in pragmatics. There is countless literature on politeness research at home and abroad. However, little attention has been paid to the studies of impoliteness. In fact, impoliteness is also a common phenomenon in human interaction. The conflicts in literary works go hand in hand with verbal impoliteness. This is especially true in dramatic discourse.A study of the politeness phenomena of dramatic discourse is of great importance in the plot development and charicaterization analysis. This paper, based on the theories of impoliteness, defines and classifies the notion of "counter-politeness".The study takes its data from the examples in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in order to probe into the new approaches in the prospect of the combination of cognitive pragmastylistics and literary discourse.
