A Comprehensive Interpretation of the Burial of the Dead

艾略特是20世纪欧美最主要的诗人之一,他创作的《荒原》是上个世纪最重要的诗歌之一。从整体阐释学的角度来分析《荒原》的第一部分《死者的葬礼》,发现艾略特在该诗作表现出三个哲学特点,即：不用个人的感情创造诗歌,使诗歌接近科学;诗歌创作是从不合理中表现出合理,荒谬之中自有真理存在;诗歌和宗教有密切的联系。

Thomas Stearns Eliot was one of the most important poets in the 20th century,and his poem The Waste Land was one of the most important poems in the century too.This paper analyzes The Burial of the Dead,the first canto in The Waste Land from integral hermeneutics.There are three Eliotian philosophical points in his composition of poetry： To make poems without the poet’s individual feelings and to make poems close to science;the composition of poetry to show its rationality within irrational arrangement;and to mingle poetry with religion.
