"空间批评"是在西方思想文化"空间转向"背景下,以新的空间观念为前提,实现文学研究批判功能的一种新型批评形态。其在融合文化地理学的基础上,吸收了第三空间、文化身份认同和女权主义等后现代文化理论。空间批评强调对文学空间的文化解读,关注现代性所造成的空间与文化政治的融合。其从后现代美学和文化角度阐述了文学批评的多维属性,并进一步丰富和拓展了文学研究的领域。

＂Spatial criticism＂ is a new critical form which sets the new concept of space as a precondition and achieves critical function of literary studies in the context of ＂spatial turn＂ of Western ideology and culture. On the basis of integration of cultural geography, it absorbs the postmodern cultural theories such as the third space, cultural identity and feminism. It emphasizes cultural interpretation of literary space and focuses on the integration of space and cultural politics caused by modernity. It elaborates the multi-dimensional attribute of literary criticism from perspectives ofpostmodern aesthetics and culture, and further enriches and expands the field of literary studies.
