摘要
"语文"学科的名称,从最初的群名到"国文",到改"国文"为"国语",到部分恢复为"国文",到改"国文"和"国语"为"语文",到改"语文"为"汉语"和"文学",最后完全恢复为"语文"。其正名的过程,是一个论争的过程,反映出人们对其本质的不同认识。今天,之所以其他名称无法取代"语文"而作为这门学科的名称,是因为"语文"已成为一个能揭示这门学科的本质属性的"概念",而其它名称只能是揭示其某一属性的"名称"。
The present name for the subject called various names before Guowen was adopted of Chinese, Yuwen （ Language and literature ） was originally , which was later changed into Guoyu and was later changed into Yuwen. It was changed again to Hanyu （ Language of the Han Nationality ） and Wenxue （ Literature ） be- fore finally being restored to be the name for the subject. This process of rectification of the subject name-the naming and renaming of it-is a controversial one, reflecting people＇s different understanding of the essence of the subject. Yuwen is now an irreplaceable name for Chinese subject because it has become a ＂concept＂ which can reveal the essential attributes of the subject while others can only reveal a particular attribute of it.
